Allotment

We have our own school allotment in the school grounds. Children use this space to grow their own fruit, vegetables and herbs. We have a popular after school garden club where children spend time looking after our allotment. Grassington Primary has strong links with Grassington in Bloom, supporting them in the community to develop green spaces. Recently, we have helped develop a bee-friendly wild meadow opposite the school.

Playground

We have a large, secure playground around our school which we use for play times and outdoor learning. We have two sheds outside, where we keep our outdoor games and gardening tools. We have a wooden stage where we like to perform at play times and enjoy stories in the warmer months. We also have new playground markings to enjoy different sports and games.  Part of our playground is set up to enjoy football with goals. We enjoy playing in the willow den! We also have table and bench area for quiet play.

School Field

We are fortunate to have our school field behind our school. We use the field in the warmer months to play at break times and we also use the school field for sports day and summer events.

Class 1 outdoor area

Class 1 have their own secure outdoor area attached to the classroom. Children can enter through the classroom door. Here they will find lots of things set up to encourage learning through discovery, exploring and creating.

Pre-School outdoor area

Pre-school have a large outdoor space filled with lots of things to engage their imagination. We have a pirate ship, digging area, mud kitchen, story teller’s chair, performance stage, literacy and maths sheds, sand pits, water trays, a herb garden and much more…
