Stand Up, Speak Out

Stand Up, Speak Out was a joint learning project for our Year 6 pupils.

The pupils came together to consider social injustices and speak out about things that they believe to be important.

The outcome of the project was a joint video in which pupils shared their views, showcasing how we much we value equality.

In Autumn Term 1, we studied Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Not only did we produce lots of amazing writing but the half term ended with a visit from a theatre company – ‘Finding Will’. This was an immersive performing arts experience for KS2 pupils who had studied the text.

SPOTLIGHT WEEK: GLOBAL MINDEDNESS

Our first ‘spotlight week’ was on the theme global mindedness. Mrs Steeples and Mrs Besharati organised a week of activities and opportunities for us to learn about different cultures, countries and faiths in Africa.

Key Stage 2 took part in a live steel drumming band workshop…

“I really got the hang of it and it was super fun. We played Dance Monkey as a group, it sounded good.” – Oscar.

Key Stage 1 had a virtual story telling session from a Kenyan story teller…

Dickensian Festival

This year, children from across The Upper Wharfedale Federation, came together for a singing performance at Grassington Town Square. It was a wonderful day where lots of people in our community came together.
