PE and Games

Through the expert tuition provided by our specialist sports teacher, Mr Baines, we aim that all children will develop a wide range of skills in the main areas of physical education.

They will be encouraged to understand the importance and benefits of taking part in physical activity and to appreciate skilful and creative performance. All children will understand the importance of being part of a team, as well as developing their individual skills.

Children are offered the opportunity to take part in a variety of extra-curricular clubs. A sports club runs every week and we hold an annual residential visit for our Year 6 children, where there is a strong focus on Outdoor and Adventurous activities such as canoeing, climbing and raft building.

We compete in cluster sports competitions every half term. This includes cross country, football, tennis, tri-golf, tag rugby, cricket, swimming gala, boccia and athletics.

All our Key Stage 2 children have fortnightly swimming lessons at Upper Wharfedale Secondary School.
